During her time at NC State, Kat immersed herself in various opportunities, serving as the president of the Broadcast Meteorology Club and interning at WXII News in her hometown. Additionally, she gained valuable experience interning for WeatherBell Analytics, a prominent weather data and forecasting company based in New York City.
Kat's professional journey has taken her across different roles and regions. She honed her skills as a weather graphics producer at WRAL before venturing to Huntsville, Alabama, where she worked as a meteorologist at WAFF-48 News. In Huntsville, Kat covered a wide range of weather events, from severe weather outbreaks to tropical storms, showcasing her versatility and dedication to informing and educating viewers.
Prior to her time in Huntsville, Kat gained on-air experience as a freelance meteorologist at WCTI News in Eastern North Carolina and Carolina Week. Her diverse background in both broadcast and digital media positions her as a dynamic storyteller with a knack for connecting with audiences.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Kat is a devoted dog parent to her yorkie, Jazzy, whom she affectionately brings almost everywhere. She enjoys spoiling her furry companion, practicing yoga, and indulging in vegetarian cuisine. An avid adventurer, Kat finds joy in skiing, paddle boarding, and exploring the diverse landscapes of North Carolina, from its mountains to its beaches.
