Elizabeth Gardner is a seasoned meteorologist with a passion for weather and storytelling. Since 1998, she has been a familiar face as a meteorologist at WRAL-TV, where she brings her expertise and enthusiasm to the viewers.

Elizabeth's journey in broadcasting began in 1990 when she embarked on her career as a reporter at WGHP-TV in High Point, N.C. Her fascination with meteorology led her to become a meteorologist at WECT-TV in Wilmington, N.C., from 1994 to 1995, and later a weather anchor at KXLY-TV in Spokane, Wash., from 1995 to 1998, honing her skills and gaining valuable experience along the way.

Throughout her illustrious career, Elizabeth has received numerous accolades, including a Regional Emmy for Best Weathercast in 2001, and an Emmy nomination for weather anchoring in 1998. She is a Certified Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society and holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval, reflecting her commitment to excellence in her field.

Elizabeth's educational background is as diverse as her professional experiences. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Geosciences from Mississippi State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Additionally, she attended St. Mary's College in Raleigh, further enriching her knowledge base.

Born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, Elizabeth has a deep-rooted connection to her community. Outside of her work, she finds joy in outdoor activities such as mountain biking, whitewater kayaking, hiking, and snowboarding. She is an active member of the Junior League of Raleigh and the Carolina Canoe Club, and serves as a board member for the Raleigh Parks and Recreation System Plan.

Elizabeth cherishes her role as a wife to her husband, Tripp, and as a mother to their two children. Her love for North Carolina is evident in her words as she describes it as a place with friendly people, stunning landscapes, and endless opportunities for adventure.

Among her most memorable assignments are the hurricanes she has covered throughout her career. From Hurricane Bonnie in 1998 to Hurricane Floyd in 1999, Elizabeth recalls the challenges and experiences with clarity, highlighting her dedication to keeping her community informed and safe during times of crisis.

Through her dedication to her craft, her involvement in her community, and her unwavering passion for storytelling, Elizabeth Gardner continues to make a lasting impact in the world of meteorology and beyond.
